Sex & Gender: At the physical body level, the Sacral Chakra is located 2 inches below the navel. The associated organs are the kidney, bladder, and reproductive organs. So it is also connected with our sex and gender.

Creativity: The Sacral Chakra plays an integral part in Creativity. Creative expression can take many forms, from giving birth to children to painting or opera or acting or any other art form.

Feelings & Emotions: The Sacral Chakra is the Realm of feelings & emotions. Unless we have cleared our 2nd chakra, we will struggle with the 7 core emotions of: Unworthiness, Shame/ Guilt, Lack of trust/ Self-doubt, Betrayal/ Abandonment, Anger/ Rage, Fear, and Entrapment/ Enslavement.

Sexuality: is another big theme of the 2nd layer body. Whom we are attracted to & why, is most times an instinctual response. The Sacral Chakra also influences how you relate to the opposite sex. Do you see men & women as equal? Or you think men always overshadow women?

Sexuality also includes themes of gender dysphoria & gender mutilation. Our gender or sexual energies are sacred. If there’s misuse or abuse of sexual energies, it adds to pain in the Sacral Chakra.

Addictions: The imbalance in the Sacral Chakra manifests as Addictions. People numb themselves with addictions when they can’t handle their emotional pain.

One can be addicted to food, money, sex, social media, Netflix, smoke, weed, exercise, tea, coffee, nicotine, alcohol.

The Mind associated with the Sacral Chakra (Instinctual Mind)

The Sacral Chakra communicates through instincts.

Pay attention to your instinctual behavior. You’ll start getting present to how you are wired at an emotional level. For example, when someone cuts you off in traffic, do you respond with anger or rage? Or do you let it go and remain centered?

Negative instinctual responses are usually associated with big emotions. The latter includes feelings of anger/ shame/ rage and the likes. We can say our instincts & emotions are interrelated. And if we have repressed our emotional pain, we will tend to be more reactive in stressful situations.

Conditioning of the Sacral Chakra

The health & functioning of the Sacral Chakra & our Emotional Body goes hand in hand. Our Emotional Body gets wired in childhood through interactions with parents & primary caregivers.

When our early experiences aren’t peaceful, the growth of our Emotional Body becomes stunted. When our early experiences aren’t peaceful, it retards the growth of our Emotional Body.

The wiring of our Emotional Body goes haywire. Early traumatic experiences also impact our emotional wellbeing, and can create emotional blockages.

If we don’t address the pain carried over from childhood, the Inner Child in us becomes wounded. This Wounded Inner Child can create emotional drama & conflicts in your adult life

What forms the blueprint or the foundation of our Emotional Body is our early interactions with parents, siblings and even extended family.

How do you know if your Sacral Chakra is balanced?

Your Emotional Body dictates how you relate to others.

For example, in relationships, is it easy for you to be assertive? Do you take responsibility in relationships? Stand in personal autonomy? Can you establish healthy boundaries in relationships? Or do you end up in codependent relationships?

Your answers will reveal to you if there’s any imbalance in your Sacral Chakra.

Practical steps to heal the Sacral Chakra

Let’s talk about practical steps you can take to heal the 2nd chakra.

Awareness of Instinctual Responses

Commit to developing awareness of your emotional challenges, conflicts, & behaviors. So that you start getting present to how your Emotional Body is wired.

You can’t change your instinctual responses w/o being aware of them in the first place

Inner Child Healing

You want to commit to healing your inner child.

Our self-relationship is the foundation for every single relationship in your life.

As you heal your inner child, you will change the lens through which you relate to others.

How you give & receive love will shift. Which, in turn, changing your relationship dynamics.

Healing your Negative Emotions

Another way to heal the Sacral Chakra is to work towards addressing your negative emotions. If you sweep your emotions under the rug or keep a tight lid on them, that’s going to keep the 2nd chakra blocked

If you are serious about healing your Sacral Chakra, then you commit to your inner work or shadow work.

Learn to identify & name your emotions in real time. Being able to address them without shutting down or over-identifying with them. That’s the hallmark of a well-developed Emotional Body.

Healing Addictions

Healing your addictions is also an effective way of healing the Sacral Chakra. Take baby steps and build your resilience muscle.

Overtime, you’ll find it easier to stay present with your feelings & emotions.

Sexual pain

Our sexuality also holds a lot of pain & misery. So commit to healing the misuse & abuse of your sexual pain. And addressing any dysfunctional fears generated within sexual relationships.

Changing ways of Relating

A potent way to heal the sacral chakra is to address the pain lodged in our relationships. Including relationship with your parents, siblings, friends, social, work, and even extended family.

We must roll-up the pain from our Sacral chakra to our Heart Chakra. And dissolve the pain through unconditional love & forgiveness.

Moving from Sacral Chakra to Heart Chakra

When our Sacral Chakra is not healed, our definition of love remains skewed. As long as we are operating from our instincts, from this pain body – our actions & responses are devoid of love.

As long as we are relating to others from the 2nd chakra – we confuse Love with lust, power, money, sex or control. True love is none of that. Until we open our heart chakra, we do not know what love really is.

Most challenging Chakra to master

You can now understand why the second chakra is one of the hardest layers to master.

Because healing this layer means addressing your emotional pain and mastering your emotions and getting to the root cause of why they are there & acknowledging them without shutting down.
